About Us
Gold Coast Catamaran Club was established in 1956 and was Incorporated in July 1992 to support Catamaran racing and social sailing in the State of Queensland.
Since 1960 the GCCC has been conducting regular sailing races at various venues throughout the State.
Off the beach racing and socializing is a major draw card of the GCCC. Its members like to make all sailors welcome and included in our small club.
Gold Coast Catamaran Club always hosted a Regatta on the June long weekend which became a very popular event with the sailors. In 2000 it was renamed The Memorial Bad News Regatta in honor of Robert Hughes AKA Bad News who left us in 1999.
He was a longtime supporter of Catamaran sailing, was renowned for welcoming new sailors, making them feel welcome and for being a very good sailor.
Currently GCCC only sails once a year on the June Long weekend however we are actively looking to reinvigorate the club and sail on a more regular basis.
